Having a tooth knocked out is almost always a traumatic event, that requires immediate first aid and treatment. To aid this endeavor, Mountain Peak Dental offers a few basic treatment considerations, to improve your restoration options. One of the most effective methods for restoring the knocked out tooth’s presence in your mouth is to have a dental implant done.
The process starts by having Dr. Jeff Davidson and Dr. Lynn Seamons examine the jaw structure in the area. It’s important to assess if you have the sufficient jaw structure to anchor an implant. Otherwise a bone graft procedure will need to be performed in advance of the implant procedure.
To place the implant, a careful incision will be made in your gums. A narrow channel is then made in your jaw bone. A titanium implant is then screwed into the channel in the bone and your gums are sutured closed. Titanium is known for being biologically safe and will actually fuse with your natural bone in a process known as osseointegration.
Once your gums have healed and the titanium implant has been fully integrated into the surrounding bone tissues, we can go about the process of placing a crown. This will fully restore the missing tooth’s presence and function in your mouth.
